Yashoda's story

eye health

Forty three year old homemaker, Yashoda Sonavane, suffered from frequent headaches and had difficulty reading because of poor eye health. Even though day-to-day work was becoming difficult, getting her eyes checked was the last thing on her mind. In a door-to-door visit, a health worker from the Mumbai Eye Care Campaign met Yashoda and advised her to get her eyes screened. She visited the vision centre run by the Mumbai Eye Care Campaign where they prescribed and gave her a pair of spectacles. She was finally relieved from her constant headaches, and could return to her normal state of life once again.

She was finally relieved from her constant headaches, and could return to her normal state of life once again.

The Mumbai Eye Care Campaign raises awareness on primary eye healthcare, provides free screening and spectacles to local communities in the city, and also provides surgical and rehabilitation services to improve eye health by networking with other NGOs and hospitals.
