Anam's story

It was very difficult living with blindness but I didn’t lose hope and continued with my studies at the blind school until I graduated in 1991.

I came to know about the Ganjam District Rehabilitation Project from my friends and the local community worker. Although I had already learned daily living skills at school, the project taught me to believe in myself and start my own business selling ice cream. I now earn around 50-60 rupees per day.

My message to all those who go blind is to have faith and confidence in themselves

Earlier, I was a burden on my family, but now I support them. I had seen low times, but I never lost hope. Now I am very happy with my life. My message to people with disabilities like blindness or other visual impairments like cataract is to have faith and confidence in themselves.
