Ravinder’s Story

Small Change Big Difference

“The support came at the right time,” he shared. “It has made a real difference to my life.”

Ravinder, 50, from Hyderabad, lives with a congenital physical disability alongside his wife and three young children. With his wife working as a daily wage labourer, the family manages life with limited means, holding on to the small joys that keep them going. When Ravinder’s vision began to worsen, even simple things like reading messages on his mobile phone or managing daily tasks became difficult. For a family already balancing so much, treatment felt like something they could not afford. When he attended a free eye screening camp organised under Sightsavers India’s Urban Eye Health Programme through the D. E. Shaw-supported Mobile Vision Centre, he was diagnosed with a vision problem requiring reading correction and received spectacles free of cost.
