Ranjit’s story

A Vision Beyond Sight

Born with a visual impairment, Ranjit’s dreams knew no bounds, and with the support of Sightsavers India, he embarked on an inspiring journey of education and success. His parents, struggling as agricultural labourers, were determined to give him a bright future but lacked the resources and knowledge to do so.

Ranjit’s life changed when Md Gulam, an IE Facilitator from Sightsavers India, visited their village in Deoghar. Recognizing Ranjit’s potential, the team introduced him to Braille, unlocking a world of opportunities. Ranjit was also provided with a laptop with screen-reading software, allowing him to study independently. Now in Class X at a government school, Ranjit is excelling academically.

Ranjit’s brother, Nand, was also trained to support Ranjit in his education, guiding him in Braille, mobility, and daily living skills. This family effort, combined with Ranjit’s determination, has shattered barriers, proving that blindness does not limit one’s vision or dreams.

Ranjit aspires to become a teacher, inspiring others in his community and showing that with the right support, every dream is within reach.
