4th JANUARY: World Braille Day
The inventor of Braille code, Louis Braille was born on this day. Globally, Braille system is the standard form of writing and reading used by the blind.

8th MARCH: International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Globally, of the 253 million visually impaired, 55% are women.

27th June: Helen Keller’s Birthday
The world famous speaker, political activist and a lecturer, Helen Keller was born on 27 of June, 1880. Keller was the first blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.

11th October: World Sight Day
World Sight Day is a global event that focuses on bringing attention on blindness and vision impairment. The number of people who are blind could rise to 115 million by 2050 due to the ageing population.

3rd December: International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Every year International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is being observed on 3rd December to promote an understanding of disability issues. It also seeks to mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
