Lotus College of Optometry – Receives Vision Plus Award for Best Optometry (Eye care)

Vision Plus Awards is an effort to honour those who have excelled in the field of vision-care and eye-wear fashion in the past year. The event was organized by Four-plus media, which has a popular optical trade magazine called Vision Plus.

Applications for the awards were invited for over 24 categories and a jury was appointed to pick up nominations. After this, the voting process for the finalists began on January 1, 2014 and opticians in India got the opportunity to vote for brands that best reflected the tastes of customers and well as for other categories. The categories included Spectacles, Sunglasses, Ophthalmic Lens, Contact Lens and Instruments and Equipment. Best new sunglass collections in Sports, Childrens’ and Fashion were also put up for voting. Brands both global and Indian were brought forward. Special awards were given to Best Optometry or CSR Initiative, Best Optometry Institute, Best Marketing Initiative (Indigenous Brands) and Special Jury Award.

Lotus College of Optometry received an award for the Best Optometry CSR-Initiative category for Mumbai Eye Care Campaign. The Jury had nominated the award based on the scale of initiative, significance of the initiative and altruism. The award was given to a public health program delivered in the slums of Mumbai, called Mumbai Eye Care Campaign. The project is sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank through Sightsavers. Lotus College students and faculty, deliver primary eye care services to the underprivileged population in Mumbai slums and reach out to over 10,000 people every year.

The College dedicates this award to their founder late Shree Naval P. Baliwalla.
