On 20th January 2014 Sightsavers released a Programme Document around “Effectiveness of DPO in Empowering People with Disability” through a Programme Learning Dissemination event in Jaipur. Deputy Commissioner for Disabilities, Government of Rajasthan was present as the Chief Guest, while Prasannakumar, Director Programme Operations, presided over the function. Representatives of various partners as well as other NGOs were also present during the release.

While the first documentation was undertaken in collaboration with URMUL network to showcase the process, learning and success of the Drishti project supported by Sightsavers and implemented by URMUL network partners in Bikaner, the second documentation was developed as an outcome of the research training at Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad by some of the team members of Sightsavers.

We hope that these documents will serve as much needed evidence for disability programming and on effectiveness of DPOs in empowering persons with disabilities. We will be sharing the hard copies of these documents with you for your reference. We also hope that these documents will help increase the visibility of Sightsavers in disability sector.
