Walk or run for Sightsavers to promote eye health

Promoting eye health and equality on Gandhi Jayanti

On Gandhi Jayanti, key staff members of Standard Chartered Bank ran for Sightsavers at the Foot Steps 4 Good marathon thereby supporting our cause to combat avoidable blindness and promote equality and quality eye health. It was really heartening to see so many runners from Standard Chartered willing to run for our cause. We would like to thank them all and everyone else who had supported our cause at this one of a kind grand event.

Footsteps 4 Good is an initiative conceptualised by Jill Beckingham (wife of former British Deputy High Commissioner to India). This initiative follows her 357 km India – UK friendship walk in 2010 from Ahmedabad to Dandi, replicating Mahatma Gandhi’s famous Dandi March in celebration of his birth anniversary. Backed by a trusted group of aides, support staff and thousands of individuals, Jill herself walked every step of the way. The walk managed to raise over 75 lakh, which was distributed among 6 charitable organisations to enable quality eye health.
