A night of melody in Mumbai

Here’ some interesting news for music connoisseurs. Ability of Disability – A Night of Melody will showcase performances by disabled artistes and many singers, including the popular Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant.

The musical event, organised by Her Highness Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi, will donate the proceeds to Sightsavers, which aims to eradicate avoidable blindness and provide equal opportunities for persons with visual impairments. In India since 1966, Sightsavers partners with over 100 organisations in 17 states to work towards eye healthcare, including educational support and rehabilitation of people with visual impairment. In 2012, it reached out to over 1.5 million people with potential eye problems and supported over 77,000 eye operations.

The event aims to be a musical extravaganza, and will demonstrate that people who are disabled are no less than the abled. To see six completely visually impaired boys and girls perform – dancing with candles in their hands – promises to be both an enthralling and an enlightening experience for the audience. Donor passes for the program are also available at the venue.

Venue:                 Ravindra Natya Mandir, Sayani Marg, Prabhadevi
