RN Mohanty

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. R N Mohanty brings on board over 23 years of experience in international development. He has a Master’s degree in Economics and has also done his Post Graduation in Human Resource Management.

RN, as he is fondly called, is regarded as a leader with a clear vision for tomorrow. He is well known and honored by his associates and peers for his futuristic decision making capacity and good sense of judgment, essential for a leader at the helm of affairs.

RN over the years has had experience of working on diverse issues like environment, health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, livelihood, education, disability and eye health.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, RN was the Chief Operating Officer at CARE India.

Prasannakumar P.N.

Director – Programme Operations

Prasanna joined Sightsavers in 2004 and at present is the Director – Programme Operations. Based out of the country office, he is primarily responsible for the overall programme strategy in India.

Prior to joining Sightsavers he worked with Christian Children’s Fund where he had independent charge of Orissa and Chhattisgarh programmes. He has also worked with Save the Children (UK).

Avijit Dey

Director Programme Outreach & Resource Mobilisation

Avijit joined Sightsavers in 2011 and is the Director of Funding & Marketing in India. His key responsibility is to develop and implement Sightsavers’ marketing and fundraising strategy in India. He comes with a wide range of experience of the overseas markets.

Avijit has spent over 16 years in the development sector and has a passion for marketing. This has brought about a profound influence on his professional life.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, Avijit worked at Plan India, Intervida and Deepalaya.

He completed his graduation from Delhi University and is a post graduate in PR and Advertising from the Centre for Mass Media, New Delhi.

Smitha Bala

Head, Human Resources

Smitha Bala joined Sightsavers as Human Resource Business Partner for India in 2013—a time when the strategy implementation began amongst changes within the organization such as restructuring and head office shift from Mumbai to Delhi. In addition to her India role, she supported the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka country offices.

Smitha is a human resource management professional with more than 15 years of experience and has worked extensively in the areas of HR operations, recruitment, talent management, building employee retention, implementing organizational development (OD) plans for enhancing the operational effectiveness; designing and implementing HR Strategy as per the overall organizational structure; formulate HR policy etc. She strongly believes in nurturing and developing people and systems for overall growth of the organization. Her last assignment was with Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) where she worked for more than 7 yearsShe is a Delhi University graduate and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) from Symbiosis Institute.

Smitha is passionate about contributing to the society and believes in the philosophy of ‘you get what you give’.

Archana Bhambal

Area Director – North India

Archana joined Sightsavers in 2008 as Area Director for North India, a position she currently holds. Her role involves overseeing the programmes in North India including their strategy and development process.

Archana is a Member of National Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Plan Appraisal Team of MHRD, Government of India.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, Archana has worked for District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. She has contributed to the planning, implementation and monitoring of the government’s Universalization of Elementary Education programme.
Archana has a Master’s Degree in science and education and has been in the social sector for over 20 years.

Sudipta Mohanty

Area Director – India East

Sudipta is a Post Graduate from XISS, Ranchi and has been in the social development sector for more than 16 years. Further to his Post Graduation, he has done his MS in Regional Development Planning and Management from University of Dortmund, Germany and Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management from IIM, Ranchi.

Sudipta joined Sightsavers in 2008 as Programme Manager and is currently the Area Director for India (East) since 2015. His role involves strategic planning, partnership development, overseeing the programmes, administration and financial control. Prior to joining Sightsavers, he has worked with Catholic Relief Services as Deputy State Representative for the states of MP and CG. An avid reader and enthusiast in organization development and leadership issues, he enjoys exploring avenues of social enterprises for health care innovations.
